Cynthia
Ontiveros Newton
Jul 4, 1956 — Oct 13, 2026
Moline, Illinois
Cynthia “Cindy” Ontiveros Newton, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 13, 2026.
There will be no public services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.
Born on July 4, 1956, to John and Josephine Rocha Ontiveros, Cindy lived with a bright spirit and a generous heart that touched the lives of the people around her.
A 1974 graduate of Moline High School, Cindy built a career as a hairdresser and salon owner in the Quad Cities. Through her work, she connected with people in a way that went far beyond a haircut or a visit to the salon. She welcomed others with warmth and made her clients feel like part of her extended family.
Cindy was a fun-loving, silly ball of energy—small in stature but mighty in spirit. Her contagious laugh, lively personality, and positive outlook could bring joy to any room. She was someone who helped others whenever she could and had a special way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and loved. Her kindness and unmistakable spark left a lasting impression on family, friends, and the many clients whose lives she brightened.
Cindy is survived by her husband, David Newton; her son, Brandon Ontiveros; her grandson, Coda Ontiveros; and her daughter-in-law, Liz Ontiveros. She is also survived by her siblings Michael Ontiveros, Christine Reem, Frank Ontiveros, and JoAnn Bender; her mother-in-law, June Newton; and her sister-in-law, Tammy Newton.
Cindy’s warmth, humor, generosity, and joyful personality will be deeply missed. The love she gave so freely—and the feeling of family she created wherever she went—will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
