Corlon Coryontae McDuffy was born April 1, 2015, in Moline, Illinois. He was a fifth grader at Rock Island Center for Math and Science, where he was known for his bright mind, kind heart, and sense of humor.
Corlon was loving, caring, and full of life. He loved to make people laugh and had a personality that filled every room. He was exceptionally smart and so articulate that people didn’t believe he was only 10 years old.
He loved sports, video games, and being with his family. He loved basketball, football and baseball, playing for Future Rocks basketball, Little Rocks football, Rock Island Little League, and Parks & Rec sports. He was coachable, kind, and always encouraged his teammates.
He also loved anime, especially Naruto, and could talk for hours about his favorite characters and games. But more than anything, Corlon’s heart belonged to his family. He shared a deep, unbreakable bond with his little brother, Corvon. The two were inseparable. He adored his siblings, nieces, and nephews, and had a protective, gentle way of looking out for those younger than him. His laughter, his jokes, and his joyful presence made every day brighter.
Corlon is survived by his parents, Shakenya and Andrew McDuffy of Rock Island; siblings, Morrio Rogers, Jr., DaMorrio Rogers, Radell Parks, Coryon McDuffy, Corvon McDuffy, Andrew McDuffy, Jr., Kamya McDuffy, Imari McDuffy, Tishnique Wright, Tanihya Greer, CorShaune McDuffy, LaShae McDuffy, and Shacori McDuffy; grandparents, Arthenia McDuffy and Michael Hall; great-grandmother, CeCelia “NeNe” Wright; nieces and nephews, Niaylah Rogers, Amaya Williams, Layanna Rogers, Morrio Rogers III, and Za’Mira Rogers; along with a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David McDuffy and Tracey Wright; great-grandparents, Aurelia and Arthur Dow, and Betty and Johnnie Hall; cousin, Jania Steward; and nephew, Radell Parks, Jr.
Corlon had a sparkle in his eye, a little swagger in his step, and a heart big enough to touch everyone who knew him. His loss leaves his family and friends heartbroken beyond words, but his laughter, love, and spirit will live on in all of them.
