Chrystal L. Davis, 97, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Oak Glen Home in Coal Valley.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley with the Reverend Tim Snart of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery, Coal Valley. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley.
The former Chrystal Lorreau Gruver was born January 25, 1909 in Winfield, Iowa, the daughter of Irwin and Ida (Adams) Gruver. Chrystal married Oscar Davis on August 10, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, he died February 3, 1984. She was employed as a telephone operator in Winfield, Iowa, as a Matron at the Iowa Ordinance Plant during World War II, and for many years she sold arts and crafts through local stores.
Chrystal was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Coal Valley, and the Church Women?s Association of Coal Valley. She enjoyed working with arts and crafts her whole life, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Chrystal is survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, Christine and Henry Langebartels of Lacona, IA, Martha and Fred Dalton of Grand River, IA, Laird and Mary Jack of Des Moines, IA, and Scott Jack of Indianola, IA, Iowa, nine great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Don Foreman of Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Foreman, along with six brothers and sisters.
