Christine E. Stetter, 80, of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Pekin, Illinois, died Friday, January 28, 2022, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Services to celebrate Chris’ life will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (Lower Level), 701 12th Street, Moline. The celebration will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a hospitality gathering complete with a hot dog buffet, Busch Light and Fireball. At 6:30 p.m., there will be an open microphone sharing of stories. Attendees are encouraged to wear ugly Christmas sweaters in honor of Chris’ favorite time of the year. Cremation will take place following services at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to One Eighty (oneeighty.org) or Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).

Christine Ellen Crist was born August 26, 1941, in Newark, Ohio, to Charles and Dorothea (Bowers) Crist. She married Floyd Stetter on October 24, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois. He died May 1, 2005.

When asked about her profession, Chris’ responded “I worked in hard labor as a professional mom and never retired.” In her other professional life, she worked at Simmons Mattress Co. in Chicago, was a manager at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa, and worked at Target in Ottumwa.

She was a devout follower of the Lord. She enjoyed music, sewing, painting, travel, singing with the group, “Sweet Adelines”, and had a Hallmark Christmas Movie addiction. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Chris, especially her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her ridiculous “Chris-ism’s”.

Chris is survived by three children, Kathy (Brett) Cornish of Coal Valley, Illinois, Candy (Brian) Jones of Colona, Illinois, and Stuart (Wendy) Stetter of Kirkville, Iowa; grandchildren, Nolan and Carson Stetter, and Mason, Alexandra, Preston, and Logan Jones; and countless friends.
