Cheri L. Sichling, 69, of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at home.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
The former Cheri Lynn George was born April 1, 1953, in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Russell George, Jr. and Clara Elsie (Thornton). She married Lloyd Sichling, and the couple had two sons, Brandon and Andrew Sichling, prior to separating.
Cheri was employed as a secretary for a local insurance agency in Monmouth, IL, until she retired and became a custodial worker and home maker. In her younger years she volunteered her time as a case worker at a women’s emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence in Chicago.
Cheri was active in her church communities and enjoyed reading novels, especially those by Anne Tyler and Fannie Flagg. She also enjoyed American cinema and British television. She also loved traveling and living in places such as the Virgin Islands, Jamaica, and Colorado. She returned to Chicago and met Lloyd Sichling.
Cheri is survived by two children, Brandon Sichling of Salem, Massachusetts, and Andrew Sichling and Meghanne Kendall-Sichling of Bettendorf, grandchildren Haylee and Jayce Kendall and great grandchild Josiah Bilbrey of Bettendorf, her sister and brother-in-law Chris and Nancy Bland of Schererville, Indiana, Bob Shimmin of Kirkwood, Illinois and Dick Shimmin of Galesburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents.
