Charles Russell Gladfelder

August 1, 1942 — April 2, 2026

Milan, Illinois

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Russell Gladfelder on April 2, 2026, at the age of 83 in Milan, Illinois.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

He passed away peacefully at home with companion Andrea Grimes of 8 years who has stood beside and cared for him, which wasn’t always an easy thing to do. Charles could be a little feisty, but she took it in with a smile and positive attitude. Also with him were his ex-wife, Sandra Bradley who remained close, as well as his daughters, Linda Smith, and Tawnya Farmer and husband Brian.

Charles was born on August 1, 1942, in Mercer, MO, to Russell and Viola (Melton) Gladfelder. After school Charles moved to Idaho for a short time and in May of 1964 he married Sandra McNabb in Reno, NV. The couple had three children, Linda, Charles Jr., and Tawnya. In 1967 they moved to Moline, and later divorced in 1974.

Charles worked hard and has a construction business known as Chuck’s Concrete. He took great pride in his work which spanned 40 years throughout the Quad Cities. His nickname was “Boss Hog” and loved hanging out at the local pubs with his many friends. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, which he often proved lucky.

Charles had great love for his mother and once surprised her by dropping her off randomly at a car dealership and leaving with no explanation. As she stood there in the parking lot the dealer came out and handed her the keys to her new car.

Charles is survived by his companion, Andrea Grimes; ex-wife, Sandra Bradley of Trenton, MO; daughters, Linda Smith and Tawnya (Brian) Farmer, both of Trenton, MO; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Jerry Smith, brothers, Larry and Raymond Gladfelder, and a son, Charles Gladfelder Jr.

“ Charles will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him! Rest in Peace Dad.”
