Charles L. “Chuck” Caldwell, 85, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side.
Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, at the funeral home, with Rev. Jerry Helms officiating. The family will greet friends at a funeral luncheon immediately following services at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Burial will follow at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Moline.
Charles LeRay Caldwell was born April 10, 1940, in Moline, the son of John Charles and Juanita Geraldine (Williams) Caldwell. He graduated from United Township High School in East Moline in 1958 and went on to marry Violet Palmer in 1963 and the couple had two children, Timothy and Melissa.
He later married Debbie Olson on May 10, 1999, in Nashua, Iowa, and the couple enjoyed over 26 years together. He worked as a maintenance welder for John Deere for over 37 years, retiring in 1999.
Chuck was a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. His passion was Civil War reenacting, which he took part in for over four decades. He also enjoyed drag racing and riding motorcycles in his younger years. He loved baseball and played until he was 70 years old.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his children, Timothy (Deanna) Caldwell of Maple Park, Illinois, Melissa Caldwell of Rock Island, Illinois, and Michael Nelson of Alamogordo, New Mexico; a step-son, Wayne Kenney of East Moline; two granddaughters, Britta Miller and Kerstin Wooley; four great-grandchildren, Brecken Wooley, Esther Miller, Josiah Wooley, and Eden Miller; siblings, John (Sandra) Caldwell, Terry (Pat) Caldwell, Susan (Doug) VanHollenbeke, Julie Gustafson, and Denise Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Michael Caldwell; and a daughter, Peggy Brandon.
