Caroline Fleming

Caroline W. Fleming, 93, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. 

Visitation is 1:00 p.m. with a service at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at Trimble Funeral Home, 701 12th St., Moline,  with Rev. Duane Lahti officiating.  Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery.  

Caroline Warfield was born on February 1, 1930, in Moline, the daughter of Clark and Clara (Hardin) Warfield.  She was raised in Moline and attended Denison University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.  She received her degree in Psychology after transferring to the University of Southern California.  She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Moline, Garden Club, Bridge Club, King’s Daughters and a 74-year member of PEO. 

Caroline raised four children, volunteered at their activities and supported her husband’s career, moving to Horicon, Wisconsin, and Waterloo, Iowa, before returning to Moline for their retirement. She enjoyed spending winter holidays in Sarasota, Florida.  She summered at Sylvan Beach, Michigan, for 80 years, playing tennis, hosting family gatherings and enjoying Sylvan’s social events.  After the death of her husband, Caroline moved to Ponte Vedra Beach.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Susan Schuler of Sarasota, Mary and Scott Francis of Ponte Vedra Beach, William and Sufia Fleming of West Palm Beach, Florida, and David Fleming and his fiancé Jacklyn Headrick of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jillian Schuler and her husband, Walter Beer, T.J. Schuler, Bobby Francis and Sarah Francis; cousins Linda Lewis and Nancy Lackey; nephews Rob Warfield, Bill Warfield; and niece Barb DeSmet. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Robert S. Fleming.
