Carol is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Mario E. Magallanes of San Diego, California; son and his fiancé, Evan Morris and Chris Hallisey of San Diego; sister and brothers-in-law, Diane (Eric) Sandberg (Gasperovich) of Moline, and W. Timothy Rodems, Sr. of Moline; and sister-in-law, Kim Morris of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Carol was born June 13, 1954, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Anthony Leo and Agnes Marie Gasperovich (Lievens). She grew up in both Moline and Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from Moline High School in 1971 and obtained her Registered Nursing license in 1980. She married Michael Morris in 1982. Michael then became the father of already born Alicia that same year. In April of 1984 Carol gave birth to their son Evan Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Mary Ann Rodems (Gasperovich).

Carol dedicated her life to caring for humanity with 30+ years of hospital nursing in a variety of fields. These included ER, medivac, intensive care, angioplasty, and cardiac rehabilitation. She worked for Illini Hospital in Silvis, IL., health systems in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and lastly in Lee County, Florida, from 1993 until her retirement from Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center in 2010.

Carol’s approach to life was treating people with dignity, respect, non-judgment, and compassion for anyone facing difficult situations. When not helping save lives, or assisting families in hospital settings, she was pouring love into her family and close friends. She gained long lasting friendships in and outside of her nursing career. Some of her best memories were at home sharing food and conversation with loved ones, especially her children. Both Carol and her spouse Michael had been married 40 years. They had a deep love of music through many genres including funk, soul, Native American, and classic rock. Lastly, she was forever a dog mom with many furry family members over the years, in which many of her pets were rescued.

Carol’s wishes were to be cremated, having her ashes scattered among the wise trees of the Redwood Forests on the west coast or in the calming waves of the Pacific Ocean. She offered that any memorial service be centered around a Celebration of Life, positive love of friends and family sharing together however was most comforting for them. She wanted everyone that knew her to honor her life through kindness and compassion for each other, humanity and animals of our planet.
