Carol S. Brown

Carol Sue Brown, age 73, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

Carol was born in Hammond, Indiana, on August 26, 1952, and moved to Rock Island with her family as a teenager. Carol was a long-time resident of public housing in Rock Island and was an original resident of their Cascade Garden facility. In the last year she resided at Fort Armstrong Assistive Living.

She is survived by one daughter, Marie Massey of Aledo, Illinois; two grandchildren, Letty and Carter; and three brothers, Richard Brown, Ralph Broomhead, and Dale Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Laverne Brown.

Carol’s family is grateful for the assistance she received throughout her life in Rock Island by staff members from Robert Young Mental Health Center, Alternatives, Addus Homecare, the Rock Island emergency responders who responded to her Lifeline calls, Renal Care Associates (specifically Dr. Rajesh Alla), and the staff at Fort Armstrong Assistive Living.

Remembrances will be privately held by the family at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
