Bonita J. Stephens

Bonita J. “Bonnie” Stephens, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Rock Island, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities, and there will be no services.

The former Bonita Jean Johansen was born March 12, 1932, at her home in Wilton Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Amelia (Bartholma) Johansen. She married the love of her life, Frederick J. Stephens, in 1950, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. They shared nearly 65 years together prior to his passing in 2015.

Bonnie brought incredible love, joy and laughter to family and friends. She always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. She had a heart of gold and the patience of Job.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Randy Stephens of India, Greg Stephens of Rock Island, and Vicki (Barry) Neal of Bloomington, Minnesota. She was the doting grandmother to Derek (Catherine) Neal and Kevin (Laura) Neal; and the sweetest great-grandmother to Liam, Emmy, Nora and Nolan.
