Beverly J. Salmonson, 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Home.
Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street at 10:15 a.m.
Beverly Janette Harmon Salmonson was born January 15th, 1933, in Moline, Illinois.
She graduated from United Township High School in 1951 and the Moline Institute of Commerce with a Degree in Accounting. She married Donald Ralph Salmonson on June 4th, 1955. She was employed 22 years as an accounting supervisor for Roth Co. in Milan, Illinois until retiring in 1973. In retirement, Beverly was a collector, thrift shopper, and hobby flea market vendor. Beverly was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hampton, Illinois. She was also a volunteer for “The Cellar” in Moline for many events and birthday parties.
Beverly was a member of the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild, where she was elected the first "Volunteer of the Year". Beverly established the guild’s first "Charitable Quilts Project" to benefit non-profit organizations in a 45-mile radius. She supported the "Doll Quilts" for the Toys for Tots drives in the Quad Cities. Beverly had an interest in quilting, both by hand and machine. She was awarded various ribbons from the local county fair for her items. Over the years she did land tours of "Show and Tell Quilting” across the U.S. in the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, Kansas, East Coast, and overseas in England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Belgium, France, and Holland.
She is survived by her daughter, Dona Salmonson; grandchildren, Timothy (Markaye) and Lily Eastman; and a brother, Donald (Gerry) Harmon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Virginia Shull Harmon; husband, Donald Salmonson; son, Jeffrey Wayne Salmonson; and sister, Madeline Elaine Vincent.
