Andrew J. Kordik

December 18, 1949 — October 26, 2025

Coal Valley, Illinois

Andrew (Flip, RD, PopPop) J. Kordik, 75, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, October 26, 2025, while on a hunting trip in Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Services to celebrate Andy’s life will be Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited and The Salvation Army.

Andrew Joseph Kordik was born December 18, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Gladys (Bozak) Kordik. He graduated from St. Lawrence High School in Chicago and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in taxation from DePaul University. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Brecher, on September 24, 1977, in Pekin, Illinois. The couple’s 48-year marriage was blessed with happiness and devotion as they raised their pride and joy, children Zachary and Abbe.

A successful tax accountant and entrepreneur, Andy built a respected career while always making time to watch his children play sports and coaching their softball and baseball teams. He was an avid reader who enjoyed woodworking and cheering for his teams: the Blackhawks, White Sox, Hawkeyes and Fighting Irish. He loved being outdoors—especially hunting, skeet shooting, and the farm, but above all else, family was the most important part of his life, particularly his grandchildren.

Andy was a sportsman in the truest sense-not just in the field but in life. He gave his time, his knowledge and his heart to many. He was the kind of person who showed up, who listened, who made you feel like your story mattered.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; children, Dr. Zachary Kordik, and Dr. Abbe (Jason Keeler) Kordik, both of Chicago; his grandchildren, Hayes Landon Keeler and Elsie Andrew Keeler; and siblings, Nancy Cassidy of San Jose, California, and Joseph Kordik of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Michael and James Kordik.
