Alvinia J. Evans, 80, of East Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, December 1, 2022, at home.


Family will have a private service at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Private burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to Toys for Tots in Alvinia’s honor.


The former Alvinia Jane Richards was born August 29, 1942, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Alvin and Gladys (Degenhart) Richards, and was raised by her mother and James Brown. She retired from TSA, where she worked in airport security.


Alvinia was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. She was the epitome of heartfelt generosity and a grateful spirit. Her love of children and willingness to give to those in need has touched many lives. She had a protective spirit and loved with her whole heart. Alvinia appreciated good manners, shopping trips, Florida beaches, and laughter with friends and family. She saw the best in people and will be missed by many.


Alvinia is survived by two children, Michael (Sara) Evans of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lynn Evans of East Moline; grandchildren, Mikella and Kaden Evans, and Kane Smith; siblings, Patricia Simmons of Florida, Tom (Nancy) Richards of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Richards, and Gladys and James Brown; a brother, Benny Richards; a brother-in-law, Albert Simmons; a sister-in-law, Nancy Richards; and Kevin Smith.
