William T. O'Brien

William T. O?Brien, 79, of Rock Island, formerly of Moline, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with Rev. Janice Griffith officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Moline Lodge #1014, AF & AM, for their support of the Moline High School Academic Team.
William Thomas O?Brien was born April 2, 1926, in Moline, the son of William A. and E. Cornelia (Foster) O?Brien. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II, and was involved in many of the island invasions in the South Pacific Theater. He married Marjorie Fisk on February 5, 1950, in Moline. He was employed as a machinist and abrasive technician at the Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, Moline Lodge #1014, AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, Moline High 12 Club, and American Legion Post #246, Moline, and a former member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Ruth Ann O?Brien of Moline; two grandchildren, Patrick and Lindsey O?Brien; and brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Helen O?Brien of Florissant, Missouri, and Don and Mary O?Brien and Dan and Kathleen O?Brien, all of Moline. He was preceded in death by two children in infancy, Patrick and Jill, and brothers, George and Lee O?Brien.
