William J. Marsoun

Moline, Illinois William J. Marsoun, Sr., 78, of Moline, died Monday, December 2, 2002, in Illini Hospital, Silvis. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in German Cemetery, Sherrard. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. William John Marsoun was born September 29, 1924, in East Moline, the son of Frank and Stephano (Radil) Marsoun. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WW II and received a Purple Heart for injuries he received during the Normandy Invasion. He married Bonnie Rosenberg on June 6, 1945, in Moline. She died May 6, 1970. He married Lois Fryxell Turner on August 18, 1973, in Moline. He was employed at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, for 35 years, retiring as supervisor of the Carpentry Shop in 1981. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where he had coached Dad's Club Baseball and was Cub Master of the Cub Scout Pack. He loved woodworking and was designated a Master Carpenter, was an avid fisherman, and was proud of his Czechoslovakian heritage. He was a good family man who was proud of his children and grandchildren, and attended all of their activities when his health allowed. He is survived by his wife, Lois; four children and their spouses, William J. Jr. and Cathy Marsoun of Rock Island, Marcus and Pat Marsoun of East Galesburg, Illinois, Milton Marsoun of Carbon Cliff, Illinois, and Stephanie and Peter Bein of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; a step-daughter and her husband, Lori and Larry Wilson of Moline; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth and Richard Marsoun, Andrea Mosley and her husband Alan, Trevor and Alycia Bein, and Jacob, Aaron and Olivia Wilson; and a great-granddaughter, Haley Mosley.
