Wilbur L. "Bill" Mccray

August 15, 1930 — November 26, 2017

Wilbur L. "Bill" McCray, 87, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 12:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.

Bill was born August 15, 1930, in Davenport, the son of Elmer and Pricilla (Morgan) McCray. He served in the U.S. Army and married Charlotte Reece in 1964, in Detroit, Michigan. She died May 31, 2006.

He worked for Alcoa, built houses, and owned several bars and liquor stores at different times. He enjoyed working on cars and socializing with friends.

Bill is survived by six children, Victor (Tami) McCray of Davenport, Joi (Jerry) Edwards of Kansas City, Missouri, Gayle McCray of Springfield, Dawn McCray of Rock Island, Randall McCray of Springfield, and Danny Gibbons of Aurora, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Helen Gresham; and a brother, Larry T. "L.T." Knott.
