His jazz band was the opening act at the event that also featured ?Chub? Hauptman, the brother of Bertha ?Momo? Hauptman. Wayne and Bertha met that night, with ?Popo? asking permission of ?Mo?s? brothers and mother to take her home after the show. Wayne worked for Moline Tool Co. as a design engineer for 43 years. While at Moline Tool, he ran the Hole Hog Credit Union. He then worked for Santa Barbara Research Center in California for eight months, and then owned and operated Victorian House Antiques for 13 years, before selling the house in 2007.
Wayne was active in the Dad?s Club at Mckinley Grade School in Moline for 13 years and Boy Scout Troop 304 for 17 years. He was an extreme woodworker, building many gifts that were engineered to perfection. He was an avid antique, stamp, and coin collector. He always helped the neighbors in need.
