Wanda C. Mesick

January 8, 1926 — August 24, 2015

Wanda C. Mesick, 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, August 24, 2015, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois, still hopeful that the Cubs would win the pennant.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, with Pastor Tim Gossett officiating. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.

Wanda Colleen St. Clair was born January 8, 1926, in Bushnell, Illinois to mother, Marguerite Imogene Lambert St. Clair and father, Lee St. Clair. After graduating from Bushnell High School, she became a Cadet Nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Macomb, Illinois. She became a Registered Nurse in 1946, and worked at Phelps Hospital.

Wanda married Wendell Lee Mesick, on October 12, 1947, in Bushnell. Together, they had two children, Dennis and Cynthia Diane. Wendell died March 5, 2010.

Wanda has always enjoyed listening to live music. She attended every Bix Beiderbeck Memorial Jazz Festival from 1972 to 2014. Both of her children were active band members at Moline High School, and in 1964, she volunteered to tend the uniforms. She continued in that role for 22 years, mending, and altering uniforms and cleaning spats and gloves for every marching and concert event until 1986. She was a life-long United Methodist, first in Bushnell, and Macomb, and at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church in Moline since 1960.

Wanda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Carolyn Mesick of Coal Valley, and her son-in-law, Roger Case of Moline. Her greatest joy were her six grandchildren and their spouses, Kareena and Loren Long, Edward and Adrienne Mesick, Rose Mesick, Samuel and Nicole Mesick, Keith and Amber Case, and Melissa Case; and her ten great-grandchildren, Amanda LaMar, Michael Long, Quinten and Kaleb Mesick, Colton Nelles, Kain, Kadence, and Kyla Case, Trinity Long and Tucker Mesick. She will be watching over a new great-grand, and the first great-great grandbaby both due in February. Wanda loved to watch them grow. She was never too busy to read a book, play dominos, put together puzzles, sing a song, or sit in the porch swing. Time was her most precious gift to all of the grands. She was a stickler for keeping traditions, taking attendance of visitors on Halloween night, shaking noisemakers on New Year's Eve, taking the family picture around the Christmas tree, and guarding the family pictures and archives.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; her daughter, Diane Case; and her siblings and spouses, Betty and Jim Mason, and Herb and Florence St. Clair.
