Lawrence W. Brown, 61, formerly of Silvis, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery where American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
Lawrence was born April 2, 1948 in Patterson, Arkansas, the son of William and Selma Brown. Lawrence fulfilled two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington as a mechanic for 7 years. Lawrence was a loving and kind individual that will remain in our hearts forever.
Survivors include his father, William Eldridge Brown and stepmother, Hazel Brown; ten brothers and sisters, Manuel Brown, Florence McNeal (Edmond), Audrey Spears (Johnnie), William Eldridge Brown, Jr. (Sarita) James Brown, Doris Rayfield (Alonzo), Mary Kathryn Casey (Cordell), Helen Brown, Brenda Dicus (Allen) and Michael Brown (Leah); three sons, Stefan Arthur Phillips (Than Thi Hue), Ricky Donald Flowers and Lawrence Dion Brown (Christy); four grandchildren, Carlton, Shaun, Lauren and Christian; two honorary grandchildren, Jonathan and Jeremiah; two aunts, Louise Pressley and Theola Jones; special friends, Margaret Ward and Ernestine Flowers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Selma Marie Brown.
