Virginia M. Upton

Virginia M. Upton, 78, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, January 30, 2015, in her home surrounded by her family.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

The former Virginia Mae Waggoner was born January 7, 1937, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, to James and Margaret (Dillon) Waggoner. She served in the U. S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. She married Darrell L. Upton on September 11, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He died December 23, 2012. She worked in procurement for the Department of Defense at the Rock Island Arsenal for 36 years, retiring in 2007. She enjoyed football and NASCAR racing.

Virginia is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Patricia "Patty" and Terry Anderson of Davenport, Iowa, Darlyn "Lynn" and Stephen Jackson of Ashland, Kentucky, and Mary Jane and Gary Edwards of Moline; five grandchildren and their spouses, Terry Anderson Jr. and Dawn Bowker, Ryan Anderson and Shai Reese, Adam Anderson, Shalee Edwards, and Gracie Edwards; six great-grandchildren, Keaton, Logan, Allison, Megan, Emersyn, and Brooklyn; a sister, Nancy Lessman of Charleroi; many nieces and nephews and their families; and an aunt, Mildred Waggoner of Charleroi. She was preceded in death by her husband, and siblings, Rita Ochkie, and Jim, Bob, Frank, and Davey Waggonner,
