Virginia M. Thompson, 100, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at First Christian Church, 3501 7th Street, East Moline, Illinois, with visitation one hour before the services. Graveside services and burial are 1:00 p.m. Monday at Brown's Cemetery near Old Ripley, Illinois. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, East Moline, or Old Ripley Church, Old Ripley, Illinois. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

The former Virginia Mae Traub was born July 15, 1914, in Moline, to Albert and Minnie Mollett Traub. She married Willis D. Thompson on March 10, 1934, in Hillsboro, Illinois. He died October 27, 1984. She worked in the Wilson Junior High Cafeteria for 15 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of First Christian Church, East Moline, and enjoyed quilting.

Virginia is survived by two children, Nelda Maroon of Moline, and Wayne Thompson and his wife Debb of Rock Island, Illinois; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Marci and Randy McCabe, Karin and Jerry Boles, Kathy Miller, Kimberly Thompson and Rob Morris, Scott and Kelly Thompson, Todd and Beth Thompson, Heather and Andy Gray, and Jon and Amy Lee; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Don Maroon, brothers, Ervin, Nitzel, Clyde, and Glenn Traub; and sisters, Iva Brave, Myona McCain, and Elsie Traub.
