Virgie Estella Yungen Cederblad, 97, of Coal Valley, Illinois, was called home to her eternal life from Oak Glen Home on Saturday, December 2, 2006.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home.
Virgie Coulthard was born on March 14, 1909, in Pittsville, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Armenta (Hill) Coulthard. She was raised on a dairy farm with her 12 brothers and sisters. She moved to the Quad City area in her teens. Later she married and spent some time living in Florida operating a tourist fishing resort. She then returned to Rock Island and went back to work for Servus Rubber Company for many years.
Virgie was very close to her family. She had one son. She also helped raise all her grandchildren. ( Grandma was ?Grandma? to everyone). She was kind and nurturing and she never let anyone leave without them knowing she cared and was there for them. Her door was always open if you needed her.
Virgie loved playing cards and bingo. She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed working about in her yard. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the country, and was a member of the Rock Island Eagles.
Virgie is survived by her son, John Yungen of Coal Valley; grandchildren, Kathy and Kelly Yungen-Smith, Travis and Debra Yungen, Jeffrey and Mary Yungen and George Yungen, all of Coal Valley; great-grandchildren, Matt Yungen, Lyndsey Yungen, Jessi Yungen, Jennifer Yungen, Jeffrey Yungen Jr., Shilo Yungen and Leilani Yungen, all of Coal Valley, Jesse Yungen of Monmouth, and Jeremy Bradley; and brothers, Leo Coulthard of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and Grant Coulthard of Neillsville, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Stephani Yungen, her parents, and ten brothers and sisters.
