Verlene A. Slater, 67, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is from Noon until time of services. Cremation will take place after services at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Sheila Slater.

Verlene Ann Slater was born November 10, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. She worked at International Harvester and tended bar at the Rock Island Elks Lodge for many years. She loved playing Bingo, cards and slot machines. Above all else, family and friends were the most important things to her.

She is survived by her sister, Sheila Slater of Rock Island; four nephews, Andra and Marvin Slater, Elton Merritt, and Tyrone Jackson; a host of cousins including a special cousin, Tonie Slater; and many close friends including Cece Wright, Marsha Tucker, Donna Stoner, and Kae Wells. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Lee Slater; sisters, Ernestine Collins and Emma Slater; and a special cousin, Ronald Slater.
