Timothy J. Hart

Timothy J Hart, 70, of Davenport, passed away at his home on Monday, September 25, 2017.

A memorial celebration of life and meal will be held at Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities on Saturday, October 7th at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline.

Tim was born February 8, 1947, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, son of Vernon and Eleanor (Harrington) Hart. Tim had two children Jon (wife Carla) and Julie. Tim and his life partner William E. Schmidt committed their lives to one another on November 24th, 1984.

Tim worked at Drake University, at the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency, Royal Neighbors of America and as a licensed realtor at Ruhl Homes in the Bettendorf office. Tim was a long-time member of the Davenport Civil Rights Commission, appointed in 2005 and serving as its Chair for the past 11 years. Tim was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities for 23 years, and served in many capacities, including Moderator of the Board of Directors for several terms. Tim loved traveling and spent many happy hours in New Orleans with friends. He cared deeply and worked diligently for civil rights for all people.

Those left to honor his memory include his partner, Bill Schmidt, Davenport; Bill's sister Sally Schmidt, Bettendorf; Bill's sister-in-law Mary Schmidt, Clinton; Bill's niece Kathryn Schmidt-Delever (Rich); niece Karyn Schmidt-Kimbrell (Shane); great nephews Zachary Delever and Dylan Delever; great niece Elizabeth Delever; Tim's brother Mitch (Gloria) Hart, Lawrenceville, GA; niece Kristi Hart, niece Angie (Jeff) Wood; sister-in-law Ellen Hart; nephew Scott Hart; niece Shannon Hart; and many friends. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Pat Hart and sister Mary Hubbard, and Bill's brother Bob Schmidt.
