Sandra J. Farr, 70, of Orion, Illinois, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, in her residence.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Jim DeBisschop officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sandra Farr Memorial Fund to be established by the family for cancer research.
The former Sandra Jean Gilmour was born October 10, 1941, in Wilmington, Illinois, the daughter of Russell and Jean (Carins) Gilmour. She married Donald G. Farr on December 17, 1966, in Wilmington.
Sandy worked as a lab technician in Orion and Freeport, Illinois. She worked at the Quad City Downs for 10 years and as a dealer for different area casinos for 15 years.
She enjoyed bowling, crosswords, and playing bingo and scratch-off lottery tickets. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Don, of Orion; children, Teri Farr of Newnan, Georgia, Traci Farr and Todd Farr, both of Orion; grandchildren, Bryan, Holly, Tyler, Allen, Paige, and Madison; a brother, Russell Gilmour of Wilmington, and his sons, Mark, Jeff, and Tim Gilmour.
