Sam Pettavino

Sam Pettavino, 96, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in his residence.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet at
Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday to process to the cemetery.

Sam was born February 1, 1921, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Stephano and Sarah Pettavino. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II, and earned the Bronze Star and CIB medals during battles in the liberation of the Philippines. He married Donna McMahon on December 26, 1969, in Milan, Illinois. He was a serviceman for Sears Roebuck and Company, retiring in 1980, He belonged to the VFW and enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Sam is survived by his wife, Donna. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nick Pettavino.
