Ryan P. Murphy, 45, of East Moline, Illinois, died Friday, January 26, 2018, in his home.

A hospitality gathering will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at CityView Celebrations on the lower level of Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ryan's life and share stories, and food and beverages will be served. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ryan Murphy Memorial Fund for his sons' education.

Ryan Paul Murphy was born August 5, 1972 in Silvis, Illinois, to Bruce and Ruth VanVooren Murphy. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria with a degree in engineering, and married Rebecca Beale on August 14, 1999, in Rock Island. He was an engineer at John Deere Davenport Works for the past 12 years, and previously worked at Prime Mover in Muscatine.

Ryan was an avid competitive weight lifter and won many awards and trophies. He enjoyed model trains and was a Notre Dame football fan.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Becky; two sons, Conner and Shawn; his mother, Ruth Murphy of Moline; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Stephanie Murphy of Moline; and a niece and a nephew, Keira and Jordan Murphy. He is also survived by Becky's family: her mother, Marge Beale of Silvis; her father and step-mother, Bob and Ronda Beale of Port Byron; her sister, Andrea Howard of Davenport, Iowa; her brother and sister-in-law, Robbie and Kelly Beale of Rock Island; and her nephews and niece, Liam Howard and Jonah and Laken Beale; and a special friend, Dillon Gerischer. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Murphy, his sister, Erin Murphy, and his grandmother, Lillian Ern.

Ryan's family give thanks to the staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their loving care during his battle, and invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
