Ruthie (Parks) Harrell-Morgan, 66, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, October 4, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Gaines Chapel AME Church, 311 19th Street, East Moline, Illinois, with Presiding Elder Tyson J. Parks officiating. Burial is in the Riverside Cemetery Mauseleum. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to New Journey AME Church, Moline.

Ruthie (Parks) Harrell-Morgan was born on December 3, 1947 in Gholston, Mississippi to Tyson and Ceola Parks. She was the first born to this union. Her family moved to the Quad Cities, residing in Moline until her death. Her formative education was in the Moline Public School District.

Ruthie began her career in Health Care at Moline Public Hospital as a Certified Nurse's Aide. She had various job duties and worked on several different floors throughout the hospital. The last floor she worked on was the 7th Floor Cardiac Step-down. She retired after 46 years to care for her disabled mother. Soon after she returned to work at the Robert Young Center where she was employed as a Mental Health Rehab Specialist until May 2014.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching Steven Segal movies, spending time with grandchildren and her family.

Ruthie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Smith as a faithful member of the Church of God in Christ where she was active in the choir and YPWW. Later in life, she united with St. Paul AME Church where she remained a member until her passing.
She married Charles Harrell July 14, 1972 until his death in 1989. She later married Willie (Mickey) Morgan in on August 1, 1995, in Kewanee, Illinois, until his death in 2001.

Her memory will be cherished by her two children, Gaylene Harrell (daughter), Corey (Tanasha) Harrell (son); four grandchildren, Courtney Colvin, Corey Harrell Jr, Dante Brinker and DeShawn Giminez; siblings, Presiding Elder Tyson (Pearly) Parks of Danville, IL, Bernice Harrell of Inglewood, CA, Christine Parks of Moline, IL, Larry (Laura) Parks of Moline, IL, Gary (Teresa) Parks of Rock Island, IL, Tanisha Parks of East Moline, IL, Catanna Dement-Parks of East Moline, IL; a host of nieces ,nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; special friends, Evelyn Anderson, Dorothy Grandberry and her brother-in-law Warren Harrell.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Harrell and Willie (Micky) Morgan; parents Tyson and Ceola Parks; brother Willie Russell Parks; and special cousin, Ethel Ruth Crosby.
The family would like to thank RN Joan Dempsey for taking care of our mom.
Ruthie was loved by many people and will be missed dearly.
