Ruth I. Quigley

Ruth I. Quigley, 85, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, September 3, 2018, at home.

Services to celebrate Ruth's life will begin with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Rev. Tom Aubrey officiating. The celebration will continue with a hospitality gathering with light hors d'oeuvres until 3:00 p.m. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline. Burial will be in Pennington Point Cemetery, Macomb, Illinois.

The former Ruth Ione Schleich was born July 17, 1933, in Fairview, Illinois, the daughter of William and Zelpha (Schrodt) Schleich. She married Bobbie Lee Quigley on June 12, 1955, in Macomb, Illinois. He died February 14, 1979. She earned her B.S. from Western Illinois University, and worked as a kindergarten teacher for 38 years, retiring from the Hampton school district.

She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Moline, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, YMCA, and volunteered for Transitions Mental Health Services. She was a lifelong learner, studying at Moody Bible Institute, and taking classes in many areas including reflexology and dancing. She enjoyed square dancing, playing the piano, reading and cooking.

Ruth is survived by a son, Thomas Quigley of Moline; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Kevin Blais of Moline; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Clendenny and her husband, Clayton, of Moline; siblings, Robert Schleich of Monmouth, Illinois, Alice Plate of Macomb, and Mary Schleich of Abingdon, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Ralph and Charles Schleich; sisters, Audry Lunini, Rose Gianessi, and Joyce Kinney; and a special friend, Gale Stephenson.
