Roy A. Schmidt

Roy A. Schmidt, 67, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, in his home.

Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Roy Albert Schmidt was born January 26, 1948, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Roy and Laura A. (Beamen) Schmidt. After two years of service in the U.S. Army, he married Robin Mathias in 1973, in Moline. The couple was remarried in 2014.

He worked as a mechanic for Bridgeway Auto Parts for 14 years, and for Sentry Pool for 12 years. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Roy is survived by his wife, Robin, of Coal Valley; two children, Roy (Lisa) Schmidt Jr., and Laura (Isaac) Lyon, all of Orion; five grandchildren; a great-grandson, who brought him a lot of joy in his last months; and a brother, Ron (Randi) Schmidt of St. Cloud, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
