Ronald C. LaPuma, 65, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Sernity of Moline, East Moline, Illinois.

A celebration of Ron’s life will begin at Noon on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at The Iron Horse Social Club in Savannah, Illinois, an continuing into the evening.

Ronald Charles LaPuma was born August 9, 1955, in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Anthony and Genevieve (Klabaha) LaPuma. He was a well known area musician with the Ron LaPuma Band and others. Over the years Ron worked at the Mark of the Quad Cities setting up for shows and concerts, Buesing’s in Davenport as a mechanic, G&O Music Store in Moline, Kingdom Builders, Avenue Printing, Owner of Hard Riders Studios and Productions.

He was a very gifted guitar player with a beautiful tenor voice. He loved writing and recording music but most of all playing and entertaining with his band at the different clubs. He was a very well known musician in this area and liked open mics and jamming with different artists. He was good at improvising. His best accomplishment was receiving a autographed guitar from BB King and than being asked to play with BB on stage.

He enjoyed cars and working on them and was a big drag racing fan. Growing up by Wrigley Fields he was all about the Cubs winning the World Series, which they finally did. He also enjoyed football and the Bears.

Ron is survived by a brother, Anthony LaPuma of Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Carole LaPuma of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; step-sons, Jason and Brandon Brown; nieces and nephews, Jim Travnick, Sherrie (Joseph) Cutinello, Gina (Scott) Yepsen, Raymond LaPuma, Marc LaPuma, and Jon LaPuma; special friends, Michele Reynolds of East Moline, Stephen Downey, and Richard Tittle; cousins, Jackie Eckerland and Paulette Dill; and many fellow musicians, fans, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents a brother, Joseph LaPuma, and a niece, Cindy Travnick.
