Robert M. Stromquist, 77, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 13, 2014, in his home.

Services are 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Immediately following services, a celebration of Bob's life will continue at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. until services. Memorials may be made to Papa's Helping Vets or to a favorite charity.

Robert Martin Stromquist was born December 22, 1936, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Charles Martin and Grace (Aiken) Stromquist. He proudly served in the United States Navy.

Bob married Carol Eggen on April 7, 1962, in Joy, Illinois. The couple was later divorced. He married Barbara Hathaway on April 9, 1988, in Geneseo, Illinois. She died February 20, 2000. He worked for IBM for over 30 years both in Moline and Rochester, Minnesota.

He truly enjoyed fishing, spending two months every year fishing at Gene's Trout Dock in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and making his own custom fishing rods. He was an avid Chicago Bears' fan and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Mark Nice of Sherrard, Illinois, Teresa and William VanAutreve of Galesburg, and Amanda and Tom Whiting of New Windsor, Illinois; step-children, Mark Hathaway, Jerold Hathaway Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Geneseo, and Carol Holliday and her husband, David, of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren, Matthew and Teri Nice, Jacob and Nicole Nice, Emily Nice, Sawyer Nice, Stephanie VanAutreve, and Cole, Dalton, Connor, and Drake Whiting; many step-grandchildren, including Bradley VanAutreve and Rachael and Scott Simonson; and a special friend, Pat Graves of Moline.
