Robert M. Butler

Bob Butler, 66, of Coal Valley, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island after a long battle with cancer. Services are 10:30 AM, Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery, visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, memorials may be made to the family. Robert M. Butler was born April 3, 1937 in Rock Island the son of Archie and Margaret (Shultz) Butler. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1956 and attended the University of Miami. Bob served his country for 2 years as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He married the former Betty Sue Stallard, June 11, 1960, in Carol City, Florida. Mr. Butler was employed as a manager and vice-president in many banking institutions, and then finished out his career as a salesman at various car dealers around the Quad-Cities. Bob was a member of the Coal Valley Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed traveling, being around his family, and sports of all kind and would always share his wonderful memories of his athletic achievements. Mr. Butler's family includes his wife Betty of Coal Valley, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Butler of Coal Valley, and Michael and Jennifer Butler of Rock Island, four grandchildren, Ali Butler of Coal Valley, Michael Butler, Tyler Ryckeghem and Nicholas Ryckeghem, all of Rock Island, a sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and Bill Bogart of Rock Island, and a brother, Gene Butler of Reno, Nevada.
