Coal Valley, Illinois Robert L. Kline, 80, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with Reverend Robert Hagen officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, following the services. Memorials may be made to the church. Robert Leslie Kline was born February 11, 1923, in Rock Island, the son of F. C. and Harriet (Druehl) Kline. He served in the U. S. Army's 66th Infantry during WW II, and participated in the second wave onto Omaha Beach. He married Geraldine Davis in 1943, in Dothan, Alabama. She died in 1975. He married Marjorie Todd Tippel in 1977 in Moline. He taught at Davenport West High School for 26 years, retiring in 1988. He previously taught in Springville, Iowa, Community Schools for 4 years. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, and loved muskie fishing in Minnesota and Canada, and classical music. Bob is survived by his wife, Marjorie; six children, Rhonda Kline Shearer of Blue Grass, Iowa, Jennifer Tippel Coleman of Tustin, California, Jillian Tippel Clark of Carbon Cliff, Jackie Tippel Wells of Coal Valley, Charles Bevin Tippel of Ava, Missouri, and Margaret Tippel Leonard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; a brother, Joe Kline, of Cordova; and a sister, Joyce Piatt of Silvis.
