Rock Island, Illinois Robert Klaus, 84 of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, and Sarona, Wisconsin, died Monday, December 15, 2003 at Forest Hill Health & Rehab Center in East Moline, Illinois. Services are pending at a later date at the Sanfold Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, where he was a member, with burial following in the church cemetery. Memorials may be donated to either the Alzheimer's Assoc. or to Sanfold Lutheran Church. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Robert Edward Klaus was born March 26, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Robert and Libbie (Triner) Klaus. Married the former Verna Jensen in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the Army Air corps during WWII at the air transport command in Guam. Mr. Klaus was employed as a maintenance manager for Eastern Airlines in Chicago for over 38 years, retiring in 1974. Mr. And Mrs. Klaus moved to Sarona, Wisconsin in 1974, where he was a school bus driver for 14 years. Robert spent many years enjoying, hunting, fishing, bowling, and woodworking. Robert's family includes, his wife Verna of Rock Island, a daughter and son-in-law, Libbie and Sam DeTrent of Rock Island, two granddaughters, Laura and Brian Krumm of Chicago, IL, and Elizabeth Coy and her fiancée Brian McCarthy of Pittsburgh, PA, and a brother, Vincent Klaus of Denton, MD.
