Rickie L. Mathis

Rickie L. Mathis, 73, of San Tan Valley, AZ, formerly of Davenport, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on January 9th, 2023.

Rick, known to many as "Stick," was born October 28th, 1949, in Bessemer, AL, to William Herbert and Vera Nell Mathis. After graduating from Hononegah High School in 1968, Rick was drafted into the US Army where he served in Vietnam. After getting out of the service in 1971, Rick went to work for his father, who owned a Texaco gas station. From there, Rick moved to the Quad Cities, where he was co-owner of Stick Engineering motorcycle shop in Moline. He worked there with his father and brother. Rick also met and then married Linda Malmstrom on November 26th, 1994.

Once the shop closed, Rick went to work for a local motorcycle dealership in the Quad Cities before taking a position at Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee, WI. After retiring, Rick and Linda moved to Apache Junction, AZ, where Rick had the opportunity to purchase another motorcycle shop naming it Stick Engineering West. Rick enjoyed watching "NAP" CAR, along with watching his Cubbies. but above all else, Rick loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Mathis, San Tan Valley, AZ; children, Amy (Tom) Minkalis, Davenport and Eric Mathis, Moline; siblings, Patsy (Tim) Hough, Alexandria, MN, and Danny (Sherry) Mathis, Moline; grandson, Theo; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
