Rickey A. Lawrence

August 28, 1950 — May 22, 2020

On Friday, May 22, 2020, Rickey Allen Lawrence, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 69.

A gathering to celebrate Rick’s life will be held at a later date when able to do so. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Rick was born on August 28, 1950 in Moline, Illinois, to Edward and Charlotte Lawrence. He married Cynthia Partlow on May 29, 1971 and they had two children. In addition to serving our country as a member of the National Guard, he worked at Montgomery Elevator Co. for many years.

Rick enjoyed gardening, gambling, and cold beer, but most of all, spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Yankees fan. His greatest accomplishment was being “Grandpa Rick”.

Rick was loving, charming, and genuinely fun to be around. Never short on one-liners or pranks, he loved to laugh, and that infectious spirit caused others to do the same. Rick had a giving heart and made sure that his loved ones had everything they needed as well as a lot of random things they didn’t. Who knew they ever needed a medicine/toothpick holder? He had an uncanny ability to make friends with strangers, and it seemed as if there wasn’t anyone he didn’t know. His kind and compassionate spirit along with his larger than life personality will be missed by family and friends alike.

Rick was a good father, but where he shined most brightly was in the eyes and hearts of his grandchildren. They meant the world to him, and he took pride in each and every one of them. They knew that Grandpa Rick loved and cherished them.

Rick was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and Charlotte Lawrence, and his sister, Shirley. He is survived by his beloved family, including his significant other, Helen; his brother, Rock; his children, Angela, and Anthony (Tony); his stepchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, and Joseph; his grandchildren, Avery, Anthony II, Aeralyn, Alexis, Carly, Tommy, Justin, Kaitlyn, and Zach; and his great grandchildren, Evelyn, Owen, Lincoln, and Alva.

The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
