Ricardo R. Arellanos, 81, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. and a time of sharing for family and friends at 6:30 p.m. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to Intouch Adult Day Services, Moline.

Ricardo Rey Arellanos was born February 7, 1934, in Yslitas, Texas, the son of Simplicio and Manuela (Torres) Arellanos. Both his parents died when Ricardo was very young, and he was raised by his grandmother and aunt. He married Guadalupe M. Arellanos on August 18, 1957, in Laredo, Texas. She died January 24, 2012.

He worked as an assembler for John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, for 35 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to that, he worked at the Moline Foundry for five years.

Ricardo was a member of the East Moline UAW. He enjoyed going to movies, working with his hands, shopping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by three children, Juanita Arellanos of Silvis, Maria Fickes and husband, Jeffrey, of Michigan, and Ricardo Serjio Arellanos of Moline. Grandchildren and spouses, Julie and Bill Brisch, Erin and Jimmey Fogolini, Christina and Chad Jaber all of Michigan, and Kristin Prunchak of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Alexa Jaber, Braden and Jaxon Brisch, and Mia Fogolini; and several nieces and nephews, including Mary Freeman, Elsie Johnson, and Sara Puebla. He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Jorge and Jose Arellano, and most recently his sister, Irene Ramirez.
