Rebecca E. Robinson

December 31, 1967 — February 8, 2018

Rebecca Elizabeth Robinson, 50, Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. The celebration of Rebecca's life will continue at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following services.

Rebecca was born December 31, 1967 in Ravenna, Ohio. She graduated in 1986 from Moon High School in Pennsylvania. In 1990, Rebecca graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in accounting. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and later served on the Alumni Advisory Council. On June 6, 2002, Rebecca married Bruce Robinson in Sarasota, Florida and they welcomed their son, Sam, a year later.

Rebecca worked for 22 years in the software industry. Most recently, she was employed by Elite, where she worked for her great friend and mentor, Enrico Lombardino.

Philanthropic organizations were dear to her heart. In 2002, Rebecca joined Junior League of the Quad Cities, serving on the board and as president.

In 2012, Rebecca gave her life to Jesus Christ. She was eager to learn about the Lord and joined a Bible Study. Rebecca was a faithful member of her weekly neighborhood Moms in Prayer group and attended Bettendorf Christian Church. Her favorite Bible verse was "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).

Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, Bruce, and her son, Sam. She enjoyed preparing gourmet meals, attending Sam's sporting and musical events, traveling and working in their yard. She loved volunteering at Sam's elementary school and managed the school's book fair.

Rebecca had an eye for color, impeccable taste and a flare for decorating. The houses in her close-knit neighborhood are filled with her beautiful touches. Her friends and family will remember her as an intelligent, beautiful, stylish, and classy woman who gave thoughtful and wise counsel. She was witty and her laugh encompassed her whole heart and body. An avid reader, she delighted in having discussions on many topics; her repertoire of interests included current news events, the latest best sellers and the classics.

During her youth, she danced, but her athletic abilities later expanded to include golf, Zumba, weight lifting and kick boxing. Despite her slender frame, she was an amazing kickboxer and packed a powerful punch. In the same spirit as she approached all she did, she courageously battled fallopian cancer for seven years, including over 30 rounds of chemotherapy. No prize fighter could have fought harder and she will be remembered for how she bravely fought cancer--quietly and heroically without complaint.

Her friends and family will be forever grateful to her oncologist, Amina Ahmed, who was not only her doctor, but also a beloved and treasured friend.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Bruce Robinson, Bettendorf; son, Samuel Robinson; brother, Randolph Charles (Jerelind), Alabama; brother-in-law, Bret Robinson (Sharon), Davenport; father, Frank Charles, Bettendorf; father-in law, Leon Robinson, Bettendorf; grandmother, Elizabeth Beamer, Bettendorf; nephews and nieces, Wil Charles, Aileen Charles, Annika Robinson, Logan Robinson, and Kellen Robinson; cousins, Kim Robinson Hawkinson and Grace Madison; and her beloved dog, Toby. She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Charles, and her mother-in-law, Geraldine "Jerrie" Robinson.

Rebecca loved the song "Do Something" by Matthew West. Please listen to the lyrics and "do something" in her memory.

Memorials can be made to Junior League of the Quad Cities or to the Norma Leah Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research and Awareness.
