Coal Valley, Illinois Raymond C. Taylor, 77, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Illinois. Services are 10:30 AM Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with the Reverend Jerry Helms of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Moline, where he was a charter member. Raymond Calvert Taylor was born November 23, 1924 in Bridgewater, Iowa, the son of Herman and Helen (Gray) Taylor. Shortly thereafter the family moved to rural Orion, Illinois, where he attended Orion High School. He married Beryl E. Blaser on March 22, 1946 in Coal Valley. Mr. Taylor was employed as a mechanic and truck driver at various Quad City businesses, most recently as head mechanic at Moline Gospel Temple where he was a former member for 40 years, retiring in 2000. He could fix anything. He enjoyed working, spending time with his children, and grandchildren, as well as his friends at the Maid-Rite. He also enjoyed auto racing, and RC Modeling. Mr. Taylor survivors include his wife, Beryl; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Dr. John Holmes of Wheaton, Maryland; three sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall and Denise Taylor of Moline, Dennis and Judy Taylor of Champaign, Illinois, and Randy and Angela Taylor of San Carlos, California; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Mary Taylor of Moline, and Lester and Hazel Taylor of East Moline, Illinois. His parents, two sons, Kirk and Terry Taylor, a daughter-in-law, Rachel Taylor and two brothers, James and Eugene Taylor, all preceded him in death.
