Ray Wolf

August 31, 1949 — March 7, 2018

Ray Wolf, 68, of Silvis, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at home.

Forrest Ray Wolf was born August 31, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of Berry and Betty (Cozart) Wolf. Although he was single at the time of death, he married 3 times until he realized he was not husband material. He would argue that his ex-wives were crazy, but it is likely that he made them that way. Despite this, he gained three daughters from these unions. He blessed, or cursed, two of those daughters - Angie and Alisa- with his crazy genetics. The third, Christine, was lucky enough to avoid the gene pool, but he loved her as his own daughter.

Ray grew up in Rombauer, Missouri until he traveled north eventually settling in the Quad Cities area. He had a career as a factory worker at John Deere until he retired. His younger years were spent having too much fun, which occasionally got him in a bit of hot water. He eventually gave up the party lifestyle and he then filled his time with fishing and larger than life fish-tales.
Ray coached Angie's fast-pitch softball teams for several years. He enjoyed the old school coaching shorts and paired them with a bushy mustache to complete the 1980's Magnum PI look. He was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears.

Ray loved animals and had several dogs he enjoyed, and at times, he was kind enough to share his false teeth with them. He had a tendency to bring animals home, including ducks, geese, goats, cats, raccoons, and a skunk. He had a rare sense of humor and had a few very close friends. He had an infectious laugh so that even when his sense of humor was dark, you couldn't help but join him in laughing. He was a good man who had his faults, as we all do. He made amends as he felt he needed and passed with peace in his heart. We are hopeful that all who knew him retain a good memory and think of him with a smile.

Ray is survived by three daughters, Angela Rae (Rick) Powell of Davenport, Alisa (Duane) Walker of Shawnee, Kansas, and Christine (Billy) Cooperman of Davenport; four biological grandchildren, Matt Powell, and Reilly, Victoria, and Audrey Ashlock; a great-granddaughter, Skyler; a brother, Greg Wolf of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; a nephew, Dalton Wolf of Taylor Ridge; and a niece, Chelsey Wolf of East Moline, Illinois. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Wolf, a sister, Billie Lou Wolf, and a nephew, Michael Lynn Golightly.
