Randall S. Roberts, 53, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Randy?s life at a future date. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley is assisting the family.
Randall Sydney Roberts was born January 24, 1959, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Benjamin E. and Delores (Green) Roberts. He married Kathryn Nelson on May 7, 2005, in Coal Valley.
He worked construction for most of his life. He recently had changed careers, obtaining his CDL and working as a truck driver for Tantara Trucking in Muscatine, Iowa.
Randy volunteered as ?Santa Claus? for Toys for Tots for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping, gardening, and vacationing. He loved to cook and entertain, organizing the ?Bar-Stool Olympics? every year in his back yard. Randy truly loved life. He had a great sense of humor and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Randy is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughters, Amy Roberts, Michelle Nelson, and Mary (Ricardo) Roberts, all of Moline, and Tiffany (Paul) Duyvejonck of Rock Island; a son, Kaleb (Katelyn) Nelson, of Moline; ten grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry (Denise) Roberts of Lowden, Iowa, Kelly Roberts of Galesburg, Illinois, Jamie (Lisa) Roberts of Leander, Texas, and Robin (Dawn) Roberts of Austin, Texas; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Dutchess. He was preceded in death by his parents.
