Ralph DeVolder, 78, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at East Moline Nursing and Rehab Center, East Moline.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with Pastor Mark Frazee of Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline, officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arc of Rock Island County.
Ralph Elwyn DeVolder was born June 11, 1932, in Moline, the son of Leon and Lillian (Anderson) DeVolder. He married Janet Irwin on July 3, 1953, in Moline. She died in August of 1979. He married Catherine LeClair on May 24, 1980, in Moline.
Ralph worked for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline as a Computer Room Supervisor for over 33 years, retiring in 1984. He later worked for KONE as a computer operator and security guard for 11 years.
Ralph was a past member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Moline, and Homewood Evangelical Free Church. He recently attended Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. He was a 30 year member and past secretary for the John Deere Golf and Bowling Leagues. He enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, traveling, coin collecting, and enjoyed sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine DeVolder of Moline, children and their spouses, Todd and Sue DeVolder of Moline, Jamie DeVolder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeffery Wohlgemuth of Washington D.C., Jennifer and Steven Bennett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Jonathon Wohlgemuth of Moline, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Donna DeVolder of Jacksonville, Florida.
