Mildred R. Sutton, 90, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, 3600 15th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois, with The Reverend David Geenen officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Mildred Rose Emmert was born February 17, 1921, in Albany, Illinois, the daughter of David Maxwell and Sally Roseann Kinkead Emmert. She married Louis M. Sutton on October 2, 1948, in Rock Island. He died April 30, 2007. She was a partner with her husband in Sutton?s Garage, Rock Island.
She was a member and past deaconness of Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island; a former member and registrar of Mary Little Deere Chapter of DAR, and a former member of Daughters of 1812, and the African Violet Society. She enjoyed genealogy, collecting postcards, doing needlework, crocheting and leather tooling, gardening both inside and outside, feeding and watching birds, and raising award-winning African violets.
Mildred is survived by two children and their spouses, Sally and Eugene Bartosh of Moline, and Lynn and Nancy Sutton of Kewanee, Illinois; and five grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca and Daniel Slavish, Matthew Bartosh, Joshua Sutton, Valerie and Logan Currier, and Natalie Sutton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; two sisters, Laura Moon and Viola Marks; and four brothers, Merle, Robert, Freddie, and Harry Emmert.
