Phyllis E. George

Phyllis E. George, 91, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Generations at Rock Island.

Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Graveside services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with The Rev. Janet Waychoff officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.

The former Phyllis Elaine Batt was born November 20, 1930, in Rock Island, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Jacobs) Batt. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1948 and went on to marry Dr. Phillip E. George on September 25, 1960, in Rock Island. He died in 1984.

Phyllis was a home healthcare worker for 13 years, retiring in 2003. Previously, she worked at The Rock Island Bank and Spencer Theater in Rock Island.

She was a 50+ year member of First Baptist Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and walked the Bix for over 10 years. She was also a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.

Phyllis is survived by three sons, Phillip George, Jr. of Milan, Daniel (Rebecca) George of West Burlington, Iowa, and Thomas George of Rock Island; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings and their spouses, Mildred and George Sackfield, Dorothy and Rick Banfield, Kenneth Batt, and Margaret and Orville Eisentrager.
