Paul W. Smiddy, 83, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois, after a brief illness.

Private services were held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, assisted the family.

Paul served in the United States Navy and had been employed at French & Hecht in Davenport, Iowa.

He is survived by his children, Leslie McCallum, and Valerie and George Hesse, and Craig and Jana Smiddy, all of Moline, and Mark and Shirley Smiddy, of Davenport; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Leo Smiddy.
