Paul H. Schold

April 3, 1948 — August 29, 2022

On Monday August 29, Paul H. Schold succumbed to a courageous battle with cancer that began 6 years ago. The battle was well-fought with his army of doctors that guided him as he navigated his illness without receiving chemotherapy.

His family is forever grateful for the kind and gentle care received from the Genesis Hospice staff and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot of Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in Paul’s memory.

Paul was born in Moline, to Paul and Angela (Giovenazzo) Schold. He graduated class of 1966 at United Township HS, attended Blackhawk College, the University of Montana, and graduated from University of Illinois in Urbana. He attended post graduate studies at Utah State University, specializing in Landscape Architecture. He was employed by McLaughlin Body Company in Moline as ISO Coordinator and Warranty Admin for 23 years, retiring in 2020.

Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1973 as a US Navy Aviation Electrician attached to Carrier Air Wing 17; Early Warning Squadron VAW-123, serving on 4 aircraft carriers.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, photography, hunting, and travel. His friends Beau, Bo, and Benny ensured that his recent years were spent making meaningful memories, hunting, fishing, and having fun while completing his bucket list! Paul was blessed with his circle of lifetime close friends, and his faithful cat, Miss Kitty who loved him so much!

Paul was preceded by his mother and father, and many relatives of the Giovenazzo and Schold families. Brother, Sam (Nancy) Schold, and Sister, Cathi (Mark) Dorr will miss him dearly and will continue to look up at his chosen star to share a smile and a hug until our spirits are reunited again.

Paul’s destiny on earth is now complete, he will continue to watch over all of his beloved family and friends forever in spirit.
