Owen B. "O. B." Rowlands, M.D., 94, long-time Moline physician, died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, Illinois.

Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church on Bethesda Church Road in Waukesha, Wisconsin. A reception will take place after services, followed by burial in Salem Cemetery, Wales, Wisconsin. A visitation and gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline, or Sierra Forever Families, Sacramento, California.

Owen Bruce Rowlands was born April 22, 1920, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to Owen W. and Edith Williams Rowlands. He graduated from Waukesha High School, Carroll College in Waukesha, and Northwestern University Medical School. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II, as part of the Occupation Forces in Japan and was recognized for his medical work in treating cholera. He also served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Lillian Aagot Drost on July 21, 1945, in Hinsdale, Illinois. She died December 25, 1990.

O. B. was a physician specializing in internal medicine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and was in private practice in Moline from 1960 until his retirement in 1990. He was one of the five original staff physicians at Illini Hospital in Silvis, and served on the staffs at the former Moline Public and Lutheran Hospitals. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, Rock Island County Medical Society, Illinois State Medical Society, American Medical Association, and Retired Physicians Group. He enjoyed collecting model trains and took weekly organ lessons in his retirement. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and a man of great caring and compassion.

O. B. is survived by five children and their spouses, Roberta Rowlands and Allan Haley of Nevada City, California, Michael and Vicki Rowlands of Geneseo, Craig and Janice Rowlands of Geneseo, Owen Dana and Wendy Rowlands of Pueblo West, Colorado, and Scott and Marjorie Rowlands of Silvis; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Moira Sook Haley, Sophia and Wes Treder, Andrew and Selene Haley, Myfanwy and Robbie Johnston, Joshua Rowlands, Emily Rowlands, Christian and Erika Rowlands, Anastasia and Brett Minnaert, Douglas Rowlands, Anthony Rowlands, Richard Rowlands, Chad and Alicia Rowlands, and Adam Rowlands and Jodi Hoover; four step-grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Ellie Larson, Eric Larson, Andrew Larson, and Mark and Dace Taylor; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Rowlands of Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, and sisters, Mildred Nelson and Ann Rowlands.
