Opal ''Dottie'' Bogaert

Moline, Illinois Opal "Dottie"Bogaert age 97 of Manistee, Michigan, formerly of Moline and Marshalltown, Iowa died Monday, March 19, 2001 at Manistee County Medical Care Center. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 26, 2001 in Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Robert Miller of First Congregational Church, Moline, where Dottie was a past member. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Manistee County Medical Care Center "Walk through the Garden Project" at 1505 E. Parkdale Ave. Manistee, MI. 49660. The former Opal Darlene Crum was born November 11, 1903 in Adams County, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur B. and LuLu D. (Young) Crum, moving to Rock Island in 1907. Dottie graduated from Rock Island High School and then worked at the Daily Times. Upon her marriage to Frederick A. Bogaert on February 8, 1928 in Rockford, Illinois, he died January 24,1975, the couple had lived in Madison, WI, Minneapolis, MN, and many Iowa towns before settling in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dottie was a member of the Marshalltown Methodist Church, the Elmwood Country Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge #312. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteered as a "Gray Lady" during WW II. She returned to Moline upon her husband's retirement and subsequently managed the Town Crest Apartments in Moline. After her husbands death, she made her home with Laura Mae "Babe" Feldman in Moline. Her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Julie Bogaert of Grand Rapids, MI, and a sister-in-law, Florence VanEckhoutte of Moline, along with several nieces and nephews survive Dottie. END OF OBITUARY
